This residence is designed as a harmonious dialogue between structure and landscape, utilizing a minimalist palette to frame the surrounding environment. It balances monumental form with human-scale comfort, creating a sanctuary that feels both expansive and intimately grounded.
The process
1. Concept Development
The design conception centers on a dynamic interplay of stacked cubic volumes, where a prominent cantilevered upper level defines the entry sequence and shelters the ground floor. This volumetric composition is articulated through a contrasting material palette of crisp light render and warm, textural timber cladding.
2. Spatial Planning
The layout utilizes the ground floor as an anchored public base, while the upper storey, containing private quarters, projects outwards to maximize floor area and frame strategic views. This stratification extends living space outdoors onto a substantial second-level terrace bounded by minimalist glass balustrades.
3. Final Touches
The exterior finish is characterized by smooth, light-colored stucco finishing juxtaposed with areas of warm, vertical wood siding to add tactile warmth to the facade. Dark metal window fenestration provides graphic definition, while integrated soffit lighting illuminates the cantilevered undercroft at night.
